At the Volleyball Nations League 2024 (VNL 2024), an international women’s volleyball tournament taking place, the Chinese team has the best stars such as Li Yingying, Yuan Xinyue, Zhu Ting… However, they are not playing well.
After 2 weeks of VNL competition, the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team has had 5 wins and 3 losses, and is temporarily ranked 8th out of 16 teams with 15 points.
This is not a bad result, but not as impressive as Japan, the team before entering the tournament ranked behind China and not in the top 5 strongest teams in the world volleyball rankings (FIVB).
The Japanese women’s volleyball team had an impressive series of matches at VNL 2024, with 6 wins, 2 losses and a 3-1 victory over China on May 31. The latest results of the two teams at VNL, Japan beat Dominican Republic 3-1 (June 1), while China suffered a painful loss to Italy 0-3 (June 2), which changed the situation.
China lost 9.3 points after the defeat and only had 327.57 points, Japan gained 4.55 points to bring the total score to 329.62, surpassing China to hold 6th place on the FIVB rankings. More importantly, in the Asian women’s volleyball team rankings, Japan took the top spot from China.
The volleyball team from the Land of the Rising Sun can rest assured to keep the top spot in the rankings until week 3 of VNL 2024 taking place from June 11 to 16.
China, in Pool 5, will play Bulgaria (June 11), Germany (June 14), Türkiye (June 15) and Poland (June 16). Japan, in Pool 6, will play four matches against South Korea (June 12), Canada (June 13), Serbia (June 15) and the United States (June 16).
